On January 1, my father passed away after a long and difficult battle with cancer. This song was created as a way to celebrate the life and memory of the wonderful man who impacted my own life more than any other. Sharing this song with my dad, Steve, before his departure was a moment I will never forget.
It was my wife, Michele, who became my guiding light and encouraged me to pour the emotions around his illness into a piece of music. We embarked on this musical journey together, focusing on the delicate nature of simplicity, while also attempting to make something timeless and with a moving beat.
I must take a moment to express my utmost pride in Michele (aka Me~She). She never really sang before, but her relaxed vibe, humble talent, and poetic presence are nothing short of…well…magnificent. She is a phenomenal wordsmith, and wrote many of the lyrics for this song when I was struggling to find the words. I’m not sure how I could ever give her the credit she deserves for so intelligently capturing the moment and making it into something so exquisite. Also, I just love the way our voices sound together! Me~She is featured on 3 songs off the album and I feel so honored to have her by my side in the studio and on the stage. She is an absolutely incredible and beautiful person, friend and wife to which I will always be in awe and gratitude. I hope that all of you can recognize her immense contribution to this song and the album as a whole.
While In the Stars was born out of a deeply personal experience, we hope that its message extends beyond my father's memory. It is our sincere desire that those who have felt loss (whether in death or even just the ending of a relationship or friendship), may find solace and connection within its words and music, and use it as a tool to honor the people who have played a pivotal role in who we are today.
Additionally, I am honored to showcase the mind blowing cover artwork by Android Jones. His creation perfectly complements the other pieces he has crafted for this album, elevating the visual representation of the stories that lie within each song.
I'd also like to thank Lapa for the incredible violin.
Thank you for allowing me to share this personal journey with you. May In the Stars serve as a reminder that even amidst loss, love endures, and that within the vast expanse of the universe, the connections we forge are forever written in the stars.
lyrics
Lyrics:
You know you shaped me
Cells of the same breed
You trust who I am
Relinquished of your plan
You know you shaped me
Cells of the same dream
You know who I am
Because of you I have a plan
Fall into the sun
Some things can’t be undone
When your mind fills with doubt
Only you, only you can find your way out
I see you in the stars
I wear your scars
Whether near or far
You’ll live in my heart
I see you in the stars
I wear your scars
Whether near or far
You’ll live in my heart
I see you in the stars
I wear your scars
Whether near or far
You’ll live in my heart
You know you shaped me
Cells of the same breed
You trust who I am
Relinquished of your plan
You know you shaped me
Cells of the same dream
You know who I am
Because of you I have a plan
Fall into the sun
Some things can’t be undone
When your mind fills with doubt
Only you, only you can find your way out
You know you shaped me
I see you in the stars
Cells of the same dream
You’ll live in my heart
You know who I am
I see you in the stars
Because of you I have a plan
You’ll live in my heart

omg, this is awesome! i have been a huge tipper fan a long time, albums like broken soul jamboree & forward escape are rare electronic masterpieces. i have listen to this more than 100 times and i can detect always more layers...so ful of details in the background...a class of it's own, music and production are not from this world! dub orange
